Books for the World

Giving Used Books a Second Life Worldwide.

Books for the World is a Rotary-led literacy project that gives new life to used books by placing them in schools and communities where educational resources are scarce. Reusing books that might otherwise be discarded supports both global education and environmental sustainability.

Through 2025, Wisconsin Rotarians have shipped 3.6+ million books, collected from 200+ schools, 5 book resellers, and 20+ libraries statewide.

Clubs can help by partnering with local schools and arranging delivery of books to our Wisconsin operation. Stop by our table to learn more.

Written for young readers but rooted in Rotary values, the book reflects the goodwill and “Service Above Self” mindset that defines our work.  All net proceeds from book sales benefit The Rotary Foundation and the Marshfield Rotary Foundation.  Stop by Ben’s table to learn more, pick up a copy for your family, purchase as a gift, or explore options for your club to share the story in your community.

Pioneer Women and Rotary Since 1911

Author Lyn Kennedy will be exhibiting and selling her book Pioneer Women and Rotary Since 1911, featuring a foreword by Past Rotary International President Jennifer Jones.

The book explores the little-known history of the early movement—beginning in 1911—to include women in Rotary or establish women’s Rotary clubs. While many Rotarians are familiar with the modern story of women joining Rotary, few know about the decades of advocacy that preceded it.

Kennedy’s work documents the pioneering women who helped shape this journey, the development of auxiliary Rotary clubs in the United States and the United Kingdom, and the many proposals and debates about women’s membership over the years. It also highlights the landmark Duarte Rotary Club legal case that ultimately opened the door for women in Rotary, along with the stories of the first modern-day women pioneers—from those early trailblazers to Rotary International President, Stephanie Urchick.

Pioneer Women and Rotary Since 1911 is the first comprehensive, factual account of the history of women in Rotary gathered in a single volume. All profits from book sales support Rotary causes.

A New Beginning for a Village—And It Includes You

Friends of Raven’s Ark School is the lifeline and soul resource for a remote village in Kideboro Izira, Uganda. At the request of the village Chief, we are striving to give one child from each family a chance at education—something their families have never known. Just four years ago, there was no school and little hope. Today, laughter, learning and dreams are taking root.

You can be the spark that lights this change—learn more,  get involved, and help transform the future of an entire village.

World Affairs Seminar
