Sharing The Magic of Rotary Through Rotary Service

Ken, a native of Madison, Wisconsin, earned his B.A. from The University of the South (Sewanee, Tennessee) and his law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1981. He and his wife, Lynn, practice law in Decatur, Alabama, at Blackburn, Maloney & Schuppert, LLC, specializing in corporate, real estate, probate, estate planning, and commercial representation.

Ken has been deeply involved in his community, serving as President of the Decatur Jaycees and Vice-President of the Tennessee Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the Silver Beaver Award in 1990. He has served on numerous boards, including the Morgan County Cancer Society, Chamber of Commerce, Princess Theatre, and Carnegie Visual Arts Center. He was a Trustee and Chair of Parkway Medical Center and is currently a Trustee of Decatur Morgan Hospital. A former board member of BBVA Compass Bank, he now advises PNC Bank for North Alabama.

A dedicated member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ken has served in multiple leadership roles, including Senior Warden, Treasurer, and Chancellor. Lynn has also been actively involved as a longtime Lector and Lector Chair.

Ken joined Rotary in 1982, becoming a Paul Harris Fellow in 1987 and serving as President of the Decatur Rotary Club (1992-93) and District Governor of District 6860 (1996-97). He has held numerous leadership roles at the district, zone, and international levels, including RI Training Leader, RI Director (2011-13), and RI Vice President (2012-13). He was also a delegate to multiple Councils on Legislation and chaired the RI Strategic Planning Committee (2013-15).

From 2016-20, Ken served as a Trustee of The Rotary Foundation, including terms as Vice Chair. He contributed to the Foundation Program Committee, International Polio Plus Committee, and the Rotary Peace Centers Committee. He has chaired the RI Board Council on Legislation Advisory Committee, the 2020 RI President Nominating Committee, and the 2021 RI Convention. Currently, he leads the 2022-28 RI Councils on Legislation and Resolutions.

Ken’s service has been recognized with several honors, including the Outstanding Young Alabamian Award (1989), The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service (2000), RI Four Avenues of Service Citation (2001), and The Rotary Foundation’s Distinguished Service Award (2006).

Ken and Lynn’s daughter, Elizabeth, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. All three are Paul Harris Fellows, and Ken and Lynn are Arch Klumph Society Donors and Bequest Society Members. Proud grandparents, they enjoy time with their grandchildren, Bennett and Caroline, as well as golf, swimming, gardening, and restoring historic homes.
